What Does CloudFormation Add to EC2 Image Builder?
EC2 Image Builder is a service from AWS that allows you to create, patch, test, distribute and share your Linux and Windows server images while CloudFormation is an AWS service that lets you automate creating, testing and deploying of custom Amazon Machine Images (AMIs). You can further integrate the two together.
By doing this, you can create, provision and update your EC2 Image Builder resources, such as pipelines and build components, in a manner that is not only safe and repeatable but automated, too. CloudFormation performs all the necessary operations in order to deploy your EC2 Image Builder pipelines. It can also rollback any changes automatically if it detects errors during the deployment.
You can find sample EC2 Image Builder CloudFormation templates, for both Linux and Windows, that demonstrate the deployment of EC2 Image Builder infrastructure to AWS accounts using CloudFormation.
EC2 Image Builder integration with CloudFormation is available for all AWS regions.
