Is the AWS Certified Developer - Associate worth it?

If you want to work in cloud application development, the AWS Certified Developer - Associate is definitely worth it: it was designed to focus a junior IT professional's skills toward that specific career. If you know you'll be developing cloud apps in the AWS ecosystem for at least a few years, the AWS Developer is especially worth it.

How much does the DVA-C02 cost?

The AWS Certified Developer - Associate exam (DVA-C02) costs $150. Although there's no formal prerequisite for the AWS Developer cert, the AWS Certified Cloud Practitioner is strongly recommended, and that costs $100. You should also take the costs of courses or training into account, since you won't want to attempt the exam without preparing ahead of time.

Is the AWS Certified Developer exam difficult?

No, the AWS Certified Developer - Associate isn't especially difficult. The DVA-C02 is generally agreed to be a 'fair' exam that challenges a cloud developer's familiarity with core AWS services for developing, deploying and debugging cloud-based applications. The AWS Developer Associate exam would probably be challenging for anyone who has experience building cloud apps but is unfamiliar with AWS tools, or vice versa.

Does AWS Certified Developer - Associate expire?

Yes, like all AWS certs, the AWS Certified Developer - Associate expires after three years. AWS offers no renewal process other than re-taking the certification exam. However, since it's an associate-level certification, it will be automatically renewed if and when you pass or recertify a cert at a higher level (Professional or Specialty).

How to study for DVA-C02?

You should study for the AWS Certified Developer - Associate exam DVA-C02 with a course that teaches you how to develop and optimize cloud-based applications hosted on AWS, using AWS tools and technologies. You'll need a foundation in the theory of CI/CD workflows and coding, but also first-hand familiarity with AWS service APIs, CLI and SDKs.
