For certain people, the JNCIP-SP is worth it, but not everyone. The JNCIP-SP: Service Provider Routing and Switching Professional is definitely worth it for highly experienced networking professionals who work on service provider networks and need to prove their expertise with Juniper devices. But because it’s so challenging and so advanced, the JNCIP-SP probably isn’t worth it for less experienced networking professionals who don’t work with Juniper.

The JNCIP-SP exam is JN0-664, and it costs $500 to take. However, just because the Juniper JNCIP-SP: Service Provider Routing and Switching Professional exam costs $500 doesn’t mean that’s what the certification will cost you. The JNCIP-SP has prerequisite exams: the JNCIS-SP and JNCIA-Junos which cost $200 and $300 respectively. Yes, the JNCIP-SP expires -- all of Juniper’s certifications expire after three years. Your Juniper JNCIP-SP: Service Provider Routing and Switching Professional will expire three years after you earn it, but you can recertify it before that. You can take a recertification exam at the same level, take continuing education credits from Juniper, or earn the JNCIE-SP to recertify your JNCIP-SP before it expires after three years.
